“Love and Hate in Public Life”
A Queens Community Conversation with Dr. Whalen
for students, staff, faculty and the broader Charlotte community.
Thursday, September 7, 2017
6:30-8:00 pm
in the Belk Chapel
Dr. Whalen, longtime and beloved Queens University professor of History, will lead us in a community conversation. He will open with a brief history of love and hate in public life comparing the 1930’s to today. How are we the same? How are we different? Following his presentation, we will have student led small group conversations reflecting on our personal reactions to the rising rhetoric of hatred.
This program is sponsored by Call to Action student organization, Diversity, Inclusion and Community Engagement (DICE), the Stan Greenspon Center for Peace and Social Justice, and the Chapel.
