Initial Reflections: National Level Advocacy

In Uncategorized by Judy Schindler1 Comment

On Thursday, November 16th the Racial Justice Advocacy group met to brainstorm areas for advocacy efforts.  After the past eight weeks of education events, the group felt inspired to explore the following topics as advocacy initiatives in coordination with other groups already established and doing this work in on a national level:

  1. Affordable Housing:  changing tax laws to create equity
  2. Criminal Justice:  addressing issues concerning the Prison Industrial Complex
  3. supporting Living Wage and Universal Basic Income initiatives

  1. I am very interested in joining your efforts in all the above categories. I am particularly partial to the affordable housing and supporting living wage initiatives as I chair economic empowerment for the National Coalition of 100 Black Women Inc., Queen City Metropolitan Chapter whose primary mission is to advocate on behalf of women of color and girls, to promote leadership development and gender equity in the areas of health, education, and economic empowerment.
