Jewish and Muslim women will be standing together for peace at Charlotte’s 2020 Women United March in First Ward Park, January 25, 2020. Join us…
We are excited to participate in the upcoming Women United March in Charlotte. This year, the Jewish Community Relations Council, Temple Beth El, Carolina Jews for Justice, Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom, and the Stan Greenspon Center for Peace and Social Justice at Queens University of Charlotte, join together to build relationships and educate marchers about the increase of antisemitism, Islamophobia and other forms of hate confronting our collective community. We are sponsoring tables that will have information and activities aimed at deepening understanding of our respective cultures and best practices for addressing hate.
Before the march, at 10:15 am, we invite you to gather with our Jewish and Muslim members for a Shabbat Morning Prayer Experience. Rabbi Judy Schindler will lead the Shabbat service and local Jewish and Muslim leaders will share reflections on peace. Please find our “Jewish and Muslim Women Standing Together” tables. The service and reflection will be nearby.
The Charlotte Women’s March speakers’ forum runs from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm. The march follows at 12:30 pm, on a route from First Ward through Uptown and back to First Ward Park for networking. For more information or to volunteer, please contact Laurel Grauer at laurel.grauer@jewishcharlotte.org.
