Join Queens University Jewish Studies for a special program entitled “Yizkor in the Yard – Shavuot Study and Art in Nature.”
Shavuot is a Jewish holiday celebrating the beginning of the summer wheat harvest and celebrating revelation at Sinai. Shavuot is also a time of remembering loved ones. Jews are called to remember those who have died with special Yizkor memorial prayers four times a year – one of those times being Shavuot.
We invite you to take your laptops, iPads, and iPhones into your backyards as we celebrate nature and memory with Rabbi Judy Schindler leading us in a discussion of Jewish poetry on nature and memory and with Betsy Rosen, a Charlotte arts educator, leading us in a reflective art activity. We will close out the program with an opportunity to say Yizkor and Kaddish in memory of our loved ones.
To RSVP and for the link and the list of simple art supplies to bring, contact Talia Goldman, goldmant@queens.edu.
