The Greenspon Center advocates for the inclusion of Jewish American history in school curricula. Understanding this history is essential to appreciating the rich diversity of American culture, the complexity of American identity, and the ongoing struggle against antisemitism. It highlights the contributions of Jewish Americans across all sectors, provides context for present-day challenges, and promotes a more inclusive and informed society.
Jewish American History Programming Options
- May is Jewish American Heritage Month! In partnership with the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte, we have compiled a resource guide to help you implement meaningful Jewish American Heritage Month programming in your schools!
- School Programming
- In-School Presentations: Our educational specialists can deliver customized in-school programming that explores Jewish American History through multiple lenses, such as civil rights, democracy, and identity.
- Student to Student Program: Teams of 2-4 Jewish high school students present about what being Jewish means to them, which includes how they see their identity fitting within the American community as a whole.
- Educator PD: Our team has partnered with the Weitzman National Museum on Jewish American History to deliver professional development on Jewish identity and Jewish American History. We can train educators on the new curriculum, Stories That Shaped A Nation.
- Community Programs
- Our educational specialists can present on the topics presented above to any community organization or group.
