Katie Cunningham

Katie Cunningham is the Director of Education at the Stan Greenspon Holocaust Education Center, where she leads the Center’s educational initiatives and curriculum development. Katie draws on her experience as both an educator and administrator to guide her work today.

Katie has pursued extensive professional development in Holocaust education through numerous prestigious national and international programs, including the Alan Cornell U.S. Campus Faculty Seminar at Yad Vashem, the Echoes & Reflections Advanced Seminar in Israel, and Brandeis University’s Middle and High School Institute on Israel and Antisemitism. She has served on advisory boards and expert panels for the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History, the Anti-Defamation League, and the American Jewish Historical Society. She is also a 2025–2026 Candice and Howard Wolk Fellow at Brandeis University, a founding member of the Contemporary Antisemitism Studies Association, and a consultant to UNESCO on global Holocaust education initiatives.

Katie holds degrees in English Secondary Education and Educational Leadership and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Gratz College, where she will defend her research on the impact of Holocaust education on antisemitic beliefs at the end of September.

"I do this work because the Jewish community needs knowledgeable, committed non-Jewish allies—and I have seen the power of Holocaust education to help create them. My eighth-grade English teacher, the son of a Holocaust survivor, showed me how one educator can shape not only what students know, but how they understand their responsibility to stand with others. That experience stayed with me. Once I understood what Holocaust education could do, I knew I couldn’t not do this work."
